Description:

The Shift Lead reports to the Site Manager. He/she will lead the development, implementation, and application of Bluegrass and customer’s production systems in a manufacturing environment. He/she must have the ability to work with quality, production associates, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues ranging from production to field performance. He/she must have strong interpersonal communication skills are a necessity to establish strong working relationships within Bluegrass Supply Chain Services and externally. An ideal candidate takes pride in his/her hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail. He/she also appreciates an environment where superior work is encouraged, noticed, and rewarded.

Job Duties:

  • Abide by the Bluegrass Core Values at all times.
  • Manage production associates and continue developing the team structures.
  • Support cause investigation and corrective action tracking.
  • Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the production process.
  • Work with Production Lead in preparing production area for operation before and after each shift.
  • Maintain lines of communication with customer production Supervisors at all times in conjunction with Production Lead.
  • Communication of material needs to maintain flow of production.
  • Identify proper channels of escalation regarding unmet production needs.
  • Track attendance of Production Lead and Production associates.
  • Communicate quality issues with Production associates as they arise.
  • Ensure shift report data is correction prior to electronic distribution.
  • Administer proper documentation regarding coaching and discipline of associates and Production Lead.
  • Ensure production team members maintain a clean and organized work area enabling continued manufacturing functions. This includes, but it not limited to stocking and organization of materials.
  • Ensure associates are following nonconforming material guidelines as set by Bluegrass and the Quality department
  • Administer Quality Coaching as set by the Quality Department.
  • Document and notify necessary personnel regarding incidents regarding property damage and injury.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Preferred- BS or higher degree or previous manufacturing experience
  • Open availability of 6 (AM OR PM) until 6 (AM OR PM).
  • Understanding and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong Analytic problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while managing customer demands and deadline.
  • Experience managing teams of people in a production type environment.
  • Experience with broad variety of inspection techniques.
  • Ability to train new hires on all parts within the facility.
  • Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments, and taking full accountability for their success.
  • Holding production associates accountable for the quality of products build produced.
  • Communicating clearly using superb written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of MS office programs, with strong knowledge of Excel.
